We are our members.

From Lobster boats…

In 2013 IAM District 4 started a partnership with hundreds of lobstermen…

… from up and down the coast of Maine, forming the Maine Lobstering Union, Local 207. Today, Lobster207 is the only Union Based Cooperative in the lobster industry, owned and operated by the folks who know Maine lobster best – the Lobstermen of Local 207.

… to machine shops…

IAM Local S6, representing ship builders at Bath Iron Works, is District 4’s largest local…

…and the largest private sector union locals in the State of Maine. Our members don’t just build ships, they build community, solidarity, and power.

…to libraries.

Workers at Baltimore County Public Libraries (BCPL) didn’t just fight to unionize their workplace…

…they fought to have the right to unionize. In March of 2021 the Maryland State Legislature passed a bill giving library workers the right to form a union, and just a few months later BCPL United won their election and formed IAM Local 4538.
